A group in British Columbia is aiming to change a law regarding the awards offered in medical malpractice suits. Current law prohibits the awarding of damages for any victim unless that person supported a family or already earned money. An example of this law was brought to light in the story of a mother whose seventeen year old girl died a horrible death from medical malpractice and she couldn't sue the hospital because her daughter wasn't a breadwinner.
