A method of using credit cards that some card issuers are considering for future accounts is the idea of smart cards which were developed to ensure the security of a person's account.  For whatever reason there has been a lack in the acceptance of this technology even for people looking into credit cards for bad credit.  The reason why smart card technology is so safe is that the account cannot be duplicated through scanning of the information in the smart card.  This is not the case for the most commonly used type of card with a magnetic stripe lining the back.
