There are a number of occasions where it might be appropriate to get very dressed up and for some people who attend formal events often such as official banquets and the like, formal dresses might be a significant part of a person’s closet. But there comes a time when someone might buy a dress that’s actually too formal for the event and that person might cause a stir when they enter the room. There’s really no way to fix a situation when a person shows up in a dress that’s far too formal, but it’s probably better than coming to the event in a t-shirt and jeans.
