There are a number of carousels around the nation that are over a hundred years old and unfortunately for the residents and visitors to Newport, the carousel at the Balboa Fun Zone will soon be closing and the painted ponies will no longer carry excited children around in a circle. Before the carousel's last days a group of senior citizens were taken on the carousel for a last memory of the old park favorite and it was said that the participants in the carousel's last ride had an accumulated number of over four hundred years worth of memories of the place.

Even for small get-togethers it can take a bit of time to get the whole thing planned and creating the party plan too close to when the party is slated to happen can cause problems not only for getting the last details of the party planning settled but also for getting the word out to visitors about the event itself. Allowing about a month for the planning of a small birthday party is probably sufficient, but planning the event just a few weeks in advance can be problematic if any special venues need to be chosen before the birth date arrives.

Although the musical based on the popular Spider-Man comic book has been inundated by endless postponements and delays of the opening with a variety of cast changes and even rewrites, it would appear as though the very expensive Broadway tickets required to see the musical have actually turned it into a financial success even though the seventy dollar price tag is significantly more than any Broadway show has charged. The musical suffered difficult reviews during its preview with the press and has also had several injuries occur on the set with one being serious when a cast member dropped into the orchestra pit.
